dressing well

"Correct dressing is only another form of good manners, and good manners are only another form of mental comfort."

- Sir Hardy Amies, 1909-2003

So, stop laughing at me already! :waves fist wildly*

*knock* *knock*

Insanity is knocking at my door,
Humiliation creeping outside my window;
Should I play the nice host to answer the door,
Or run like a coward, diving out the window.

band of brothers

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile...

- William Shakespeare,
St. Crispen's Day Speech, 1599.

Portal - Still Alive

Such a catchy song:

Portal - Still Alive

Lyrics:

This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
Aperture Science
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me.
And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!

Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are still alive.

Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
Maybe Black Mesa
THAT WAS A JOKE.
HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
Anyway, this cake is great.
It's so delicious and moist.

Look at me still talking
when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive.

And believe me I am still alive.
I'm doing Science and I'm still alive.
I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive.
While you're dying I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive.
STILL ALIVE
Still alive.

THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.
THE CAKE IS A LIE.

Meet the Soldier

This one's a trailer for Team Fortress 2. The heavily stylized art direction is what's making this game one of the most unique and fun multiplayer game on the Internet right now. The trailers are really hilarious too. Nice to see more and more developers are trying to make games fun instead of taking themselves too seriously.

I especially enjoyed the kicker at the end.

breaking the law

It's been a while, isn't it? Then let's get started, shall we?

I'm a bit of a dreamer and there are so many things that I dream of achieving and want to do eventhough they are impossible(like flying, teleportation, time stopping, whatever...) and they can never be done because these are these are the things that are bounded to the physical laws of nature.

Mentioning words like 'physical laws of nature' can make physics students around the world groan and gnash their teeth because to be honest, they are really bloody boring and brain numbing. Still, these laws, like Newton's Law of Motion/Gravitation, blah blah blah, gives us an understanding of our surrounding and because of that, we will know why certain things happen or behave the way they do.

Ever heard before a really cheesy saying: "You must know the rules before you can break them" ?

I believe that in the same way if we can truly understand the very laws of nature in this physical world that binds everything together, those rules can be broken. By understand, I don't mean through the definitions of the scientist and great thinkers of the world like Einstein or Newton but rather by the true definition of these laws. It is undeniable that these great pioneers of science have done a lot of research and so many experiments that causes the definitions of their laws to hold true and proven and when something is proven to be true, it is made into a law. The main reason why I said so is because humans being what they are makes mistakes and maybe there are a couple of variables here and there that they may have missed out on.

Who knows?

Maybe through these seemingly nonexistent or unknown errors, we can exploit them and use it to break the rules or laws and once these things are broken, the impossible becomes possible. It's like a 'loophole' or a 'backdoor' where one can 'override' the default rules and laws by twisting and turning it so that it can be molded and broken into achieving whatever it is there is to be achieved.

I hope you're getting what I'm trying to say because the more I think about it, the more ridiculous and far-fetched it becomes. But who is to say that I'm wrong and all these are impossible?

People laughed at the Wright brothers for attempting flight and Thomas Edison wasn't the brightest student in his class. (Haha... caught the pun?) Galileo Galilei was accused of rebelling against the church for suggesting that the Earth is not the centre of the universe, which was proven through the help of technology like satellite images and stuff. They were laughed at and ridiculed but in the end they are proven to be some of smartest people who enabled the human civilization to move forward and improve themselves.

There isn't a good way for me to conclude this because I'm still thinking about this. Still dreaming. Still wondering. So many things, so little time and gray matter.
